Roku to Sunset Two Older Roku Models with Latest OS Update

Post by Admin » Wed Jul 13, 2022 8:19 am

Roku Developers Received the Following Email from Roku Announcing two Roku Models will be Discontinued

Here's what the email said:
Dear Developer,

As we begin to rollout the Roku OS 11.5 release, we wanted to inform you that two Roku player model classes will not be receiving this update. The Tyler and Sugarland models are now considered legacy, which means that they have been discontinued and will no longer receive new versions of the Roku OS.

The final firmware version supported by the Tyler and Sugarland devices is Roku OS 11.0.

Additionally, as of October 31, 2022, the current packaged application submitted for the channel will be frozen for these devices. This means that no channel updates submitted after this date will be deployed to these devices. Please plan to publish any channel updates required for indefinite maintenance on these devices before this date.

As always, you can check out the Roku hardware specification for the list of current, updatable, and legacy devices. For convenience, the following table lists the models that are affected by this notice.
Device Name Roku LT Roku 1, Roku SE Roku 2 Roku Streaming Stick
Code Name Tyler Tyler Tyler Sugarland
roDeviceInfo.GetModel() 2700X 2710X 2720X 3500X
A separate customer notice will be sent out explaining this change and offering customers owning these devices an upgrade to a newer Roku player.

Thank you for your continued partnership with us and, as always, happy streaming!
