Google is getting ready to launch a new streaming service. Code Named Kaleidoscope

Chrome Story, a website just featured screenshots from Kaleidoscope Google's new Streaming Service.

And the big news here is it will let you watch all your video streaming services on one page. This is huge, and could be a threat to Roku.

Here's why...

First off, this is still in beta testing so it's not yet functional. But once it's up and running, it will let you visit websites from a Chrome browser and add videos directly to watch later.

If you have the latest version of Canary Chrome, then you can add this address into your browser address bar to access the Google Kaleidoscope page.

Code: Select all

chrome://kaleidoscope
Once in the window, it will show popular streaming services that you may subscribe to. Like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu and more...

From there it will let you watch shows from any of the services across Smartphones, Smart TVs, Tablets, and Streaming TV Devices.

Could This Affect Roku?

Right now Roku has a pretty sweet cross-platform deal going. They make it easy to search content across their device from different streaming services.

But Goggle also has a huge Android base, with not only their Android media streamers, but also their Android phones and tablets. Also, their YouTube streaming TV service.

Kaleidoscope once it's up and running then gives users a viable choice between Roku or Google.

Will the streaming community embrace Kaleidoscope? This remains yet to be seen...
