The Peacock Dispute with Roku was about to get a Little Less Friendly for Roku Customers

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Just this morning we reported on this. Now it looks like both sides settled their differences and Peacock will be on Roku soon and all the NBC anywhere apps will stay. Yea! Nothing like a little headbutting to knock some sense into both sides. This is a big win for Roku owners!

Here are statements released by both parties NBCUniversal and Roku since they patched up their disagreement.
NBCUniversal:

"We are pleased Roku recognizes the value in making NBCUniversal’s incredible family of apps and programming, including Peacock, available to all of their users across the country. More than 15 million people signed up for Peacock since its national launch in July, and we are thrilled millions more will now be able to access and enjoy Peacock along with other NBCUniversal apps on their favorite Roku devices. Roku’s incredible reach will not only help us ensure Peacock is available to our fans wherever they consume video but continue to expand NBCUniversal’s unrivaled digital presence across platforms."

Roku:

"We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Comcast that will bring Peacock to Roku customers and maintains access to NBCU’s TV Everywhere apps. We look forward to offering these new options to consumers under an expanded, mutually beneficial relationship between our companies that includes adding NBC content to The Roku Channel and a meaningful partnership around advertising."
And here are the Roku Models that will support the Peacock Channel:

Roku 2 (4210X model only)
Roku 3 & 4 (model 4200X or later)
Roku Streaming Stick (model 3600X or later)
Roku Express/Express+ (model 3900X or later)
Roku Premiere/Premiere+ (model 3920X or later)
Roku Ultra/Ultra LT (model 4640X or later)
Roku TV and Smart Soundbar (model 5000X or later)

Some of the more popular channels that were at risk of leaving the Roku platform were:

Bravo
E!
Syfy
USA
NBC

Yet these cable everywhere channels can all still be watched on Roku, through other apps from Comcast Xfinity, Charter Spectrum, and AT&T TV. Also, these channels are still available on Live Streaming services like YouTube TV, FuboTV, Sling and others.

But this costs an additional monthly fee, and cable everywhere channels like these can be watched for no extra charge as long as one has access to a cable TV provider password and login ID.

These channels are pretty sweet, because they can easily be shared with families and friends, even across the country.

So the dispute has now been settled. And Roku owners still have thousands of other awesome channels available on their platform.

It's good that both Roku and NBC Peacock have this dispute finally sorted out. Which is a win for both parties and also Roku customers who can now enjoy this free and premium content on their Roku media players.
