These are channels that with a user account from a Live TV provider like Comcast, Spectrum, Time Warner, Dish, DirecTV, AT&T, YouTube TV, Hulu Live, Sling TV, and others can also be watched on Roku for no additional fee.
Once you have access to an account login and password. (It does not need to be your own.) You can watch most of these channels on Roku without an extra receiver or cable box.
This lets you access the same live channels on your cable TV box on any TV that has a Roku media player attached.
How To Authorize Cable Channels On Your Roku
The first time you open the channel, a code will show on the TV screen along with a web address that you need to type into the address bar of a web browser. Don't Type This into Google Search. Study the photo below carefully and you can see where to type in this address.
If you do it wrong, you may end up on a scammer's website. And they will want to charge your credit card to activate a channel for it to play on Roku. There is no additional charge to activate these channels on Roku, and anyone that tells you there are additional charges is wanting to trick you into paying them money for something that is free.
Once you have entered the web address in The Browser Address Field, the page that opens will ask you to choose a cable TV provider.
Choose the name of the account whose password and login you want to use. There will be a long list to choose from. If your provider does not show up in the list, this means the channel you are adding is not an authorized TV Anywhere channel. So you may try adding another channel that they do support.
Then a link code will show up once you entered your password and user account info. This is the code you enter on the URL listed on your TV screen. Visit this page from a web browser and enter the code. A few seconds later after the code has been entered, the TV channel will begin playing on your TV screen.
