Bloomberg reported the microphone and camera are for making video calls from your Apple TV and also tie it in more closely with Apple's HomePod speaker.
Instead of an Apple TV only, it will be a Homekit combination speaker device that also includes an Apple TV onboard. The Siri Smart Speaker would be very similar to Roku's Streambar.
Your voice can fully control Apple's device to stream your favorite shows. Some rumors suggest it could even come with a small TV screen, which would make this even more useful.
Even though we have seen no hardware updates to the Apple TV for quite some time now. Recent evidence points to a new Apple TV being released fairly soon. Just not this device, which is still in its early development stage.
But it's good to see Apple branching out into more home media devices, because compared to its competitor's, its line-up is sparse. Especially since streaming TV will soon overtake the cable TV market in the sheer volume of content being streamed.
