Netflix, It's been a great run until it wasn't. And maybe someday, we may even get back together again.
But your latest $3/month price hike for using Netflix outside your home as a crackdown on password sharing amounts to another price increase for us. Even though we never shared our Netflix password. But we did like to use Netlfix when away on weekend getaways at our family's homestead. So with their new plan as we understand it, we are limited to one location for up to two weeks. But if we visit the same place more than once we'll be charged an additional $3 fee per month.
A couple of years ago when we were paying 50% less for gas and food was not as outrageously expensive as it and everything else is these days. Maybe we would have let this latest Netflix price increase slide. But not this time, because we are like pretty much everyone else in America and around the world, and serious belt-tightening has become the new normal.
The regular price 1080p Netflix plan price is $15.49 and 4K costs $19.99 which is really only a penny shy of $20 a month.
If you use Netflix outside your home location in the same place more than once, it is an additional $3/month.
This has only been rolled out in a few South American countries for now. But it will soon be rolled out in the U.S. and elsewhere.
Two Budget Crunching Netflix Replacements
Frendly TV and AppleTV+ are TWO streaming services for less than subscribing to the 1080p Netflix plan.
Together they both offer a great mix of live and on-demand content. There are 40 channels on Frendly and you can watch channels like A&E, History, Hallmark, Outdoor, ISP, Crime Investigation, and plenty more. If you get their Classic plan, it even comes with an unlimited Cloud DVR to record your favorite shows and they will store them for three months.
That's a great deal for $8.99/month
AppleTV+ offers 4K award-winning content for only $5/month.
A subscription to AppleTV+ and Frendly TV with a Cloud DVR at $14/month, will cost less than a Netflix 1080p subscription plan with no extra away-from-home fees to deal with either.
