Why this petition matters
Cord cutters rejoiced when broadcasters began adopting the new ATSC 3.0 standard. ATSC 3 is already delivering better quality broadcasts even in areas that struggled to get a good signal before. It's capable of delivering 4k video down the road.
But the standard also brings the capability of encrypting the signals, making it impossible for consumers to tune in even if they are in the range of the tower. And unfortunately, more and more broadcasters are adding this encryption just as they are pressuring Congress and the FCC to allow them to fully transition to this standard...
