Only Six Big Media Giants Control 90% Of What We Watch and Hear

The Illusion of Choice is something most of us never think about when we turn on our televisions or listen to the radio.

A major portion of what we see and hear is controlled by six large consolidated big media companies.

The problem with limited choices is when these six organizations collude to give us their version of the narrative, whatever that may be.

When all six media companies collude with whoever is pulling their strings and start telling us the same thing, your ears should perk up. There has even been a term coined for this. "Mockingbird Media."

Not only is this troubling because we don't know if what they are telling us true, but it also goes against laws we have on the books on our country.
The Sherman Act was created to outlaw "every contract, combination, or conspiracy in restraint of trade," and any "monopolization, attempted monopolization, or conspiracy or combination to monopolize." The FTC competition mission is to enforce the rules of the competitive marketplace - the antitrust laws. These laws promote vigorous competition and protect consumers from anticompetitive mergers and business practices."

If Big Media Controls What We See and Hear What Can We Do About It?

Having alternative choices to big media is why we love Roku and other media streamers that offer us so many more choices. There are hundreds of news channels to choose from that offer news from all over the world.

Social media is no different, only a handful of billion-dollar companies control the flow of information online. But there are more choices popping up for those that have been banned from their platforms.

Gab, MeWe, and Telegram are all popular alternatives where free speech is still celebrated and not canceled. Diversity is important in all aspects of our lives and this includes opposing viewpoints and ideas.

Taking the best ideas from everyone and consolidating them is what our country was built upon. A large majority of Americans would still like it to remain this way, no matter what the mockingbird media and ruling class would like us to believe.
