They recently raised $50 million to invest into growing their ad-supported free streaming content. This must be a lucrative business to get into. As we see more and more streaming sites like Roku, Amazon and others adopt this model.
As more subscribers dump their cable TV subscription each passing year, the lucrative advertising business is migrating from cable TV and satellite to where the TV viewers are going. And many are choosing to use the free ad-supported streaming channels.
At last count, 25 million people have signed up with Plex to watch their free content and use their media player app.
