Broadcasters are busy in 62 markets across the USA to bring us the next wave of the ATSC standard for over the air TV.

ATSC 3.0 is the new and improve standard for watching TV with an antenna. The good news is your current antenna will work fine, so no dangerous trips up on the roof. But you will need to have a TV that has an ATSC 3.0 ready TV tuner. Or it will require an external box like a HDHomeRun or one from another vendor to tune in these new upgraded channels.

The new broadcast standard will offer 4K Ultra High Definition ATSC 3.0 broadcasts. It will be a major improvement in other ways as well.
ATSC 3.0 is the next generation terrestrial broadcast system designed from the ground up to improve the television viewing experience with higher audio and video quality, improved compression efficiency, robust transmission for reception on both fixed and mobile devices, and more accessibility, personalization and interactivity. The ATSC 3.0 standard is defined in a suite of more than 20 Standards and companion Recommended Practices.
